The International Society of Ethnobiology (ISE) is holding an unprecedented international workshop for students prior to the 12th ISE Congress, in Tofino, British Columbia, Canada. The two-day intensive workshop (Saturday May 8 – Sunday May 9) will bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous graduate students with leading experts from around the world for seminars on cutting edge topics, exchange of experiences, relationship-building, and fostering collaborations into the future. A key outcome of the workshop is the creation of “Emerging Ethnobiologists International Network” to support much needed networking and collaborative opportunities for graduate students and early career ethnobiologists. Please note that due to limited funding we are unable to provide translation, and the Workshop will be in English only.
As space for this workshop is limited and we are asking that students apply in order to participate. Should there be more applicants than we can accommodate, all application materials will be reviewed by an international Selection Committee. You can read more about this opportunity and find the application form for students at:
http://www.ethnobiology.net/news/upcomingevents.php
Please note that we are opening this up to all students (not just PhDs) as well as recently graduated people.
The application deadline has been extended. Students accepted to the workshop by the end of next week will have spots at the Clayoquot Field Station (workshop venue) dorm rooms. After that, Workshop participants will be able to stay at the Field Station during the Workshop, but will need to find alternate accommodations for the days of the Congress itself.
Please share this email widely and encourage your students to participate. Any questions can be directed to the ISE Coordinator, Natasha Duarte, at: isecoordinator@gmail.com.
I'm looking forward to seeing some of you in May!
Gisella (Student Representative to the ISE Board)
